EVANSVILLE, INDIANA – TUESDAY, AUGUST 27, 2019 – Technician.Academy has partnered with Randy Meyer Racing for their third consecutive Respect is Learned© In The Pits contest. Two college students, John Lipscomb and Beau Fleming, have won the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to work alongside Randy Meyer Racing in the pits at the Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis, IN, this Labor Day weekend. The two winners will gain hands-on experience handling the team’s Top Alcohol Dragsters.

The Respect is Learned© In The Pits contest has emerged from the Technician.Academy Respect is Learned© commitment to delivering world-class training that provides students with the knowledge they need to gain respect in the industry. Current college students, like John and Beau, that earn this unique opportunity will gain respect amongst their peers and future employers, on top of acquiring industry connections and memories that last a lifetime.

“This opportunity has been an amazing experience each year,” said Shawn Collins, Founder and CEO of Technician.Academy. “We’re excited to provide these deserving students with such a unique, valuable opportunity that they can add to their portfolio and forever have connections to the racing industry.”

In years past, Technician.Academy and Randy Meyer Racing only selected one Respect is Learned© In The Pits winner each year. In 2019, the teams decided to double the experience and provide not one, but two opportunities for students to work alongside the drag team at the largest drag racing event in the world. Beau and John, both students at Lincoln Technical Institute in Nashville, were the two winners selected for the 2019 race.

“We’re excited to have John and Beau with us this weekend,” said Megan Meyer. “Every year we are impressed by the quantity and quality of applications we receive to be a crew member for us at Indy. We have had amazing winners in the past with Joe and Kyle, who have gone on to use their experience of working with us to further their careers in the automotive industry. We’re always looking for a way to help, and this is the perfect opportunity to encourage students to step outside of the classroom to gain hands-on experience and add to their resumes. Rachel and I are both very excited to return to Indy. This will be her first time racing at the U.S. Nationals and my fourth time. Our team is looking forward to the tough competition and gaining points to get closer to the National Championship.”

John and Beau will join Randy Meyer Racing and Technician.Academy in the pits this weekend, August 30th  through September 1st. The teams will be joined by MotoRad, who has added support to the program for two consecutive years. MotoRad is an innovator of high-quality thermostat, cap, and engine management solutions for both the automotive OEM and aftermarket industries. The MotoRad team believes in the Respect is Learned© mentality and has continued to support Technician.Academy initiatives that improve the future of the automotive industry.
