Volkswagen has yet to ask the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for proper clearance to resume selling diesel-powered cars in the US, reports Automotive News, citing an official with the EPA. VW has had a stop-sale on diesel vehicles since September, when word got out that Europe’s biggest automaker installed software in diesel engines specifically to trick the emissions-testing process. VW officials haven’t responded to a request for comment from Automotive News.

The competition includes a series of workstations to assess skills in areas like surface preparation, spray gun operation, paint mixing, using safety precautions and more. The competitor also completes an interview, a written estimate and an ASE written exam.

Efficient vehicles aren’t the only thing produced at GM’s Orion Assembly plant in Michigan. The home of the Chevrolet Bolt EV also generates more than half of its energy from renewable landfill gas – a feat that got the attention of the U.S. EPA’s Green Power Partnership that tracks such activity. The facility now ranks as the eighth largest user of green power generated onsite in the U.S. among Green Power Partnership Partners.

After decades, Mazda has finally untangled itself from its relationship with Ford. The last vestige of that partnership is the BT-50, a rebadged version of the global Ford Ranger pickup truck.
