FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

EVANSVILLE, IN – July 13, 2021 – Technician.Academy and Randy Meyer Racing have selected their finalists for the 2021 Respect is Learned© In The Pits contest. Many incredible applications were received this year, but only a handful of students could make it to the final round.

Each finalist will now submit a short video detailing their passion for and experience with motorsports and why they deserve to win this year’s contest. Based on these submissions, two winners will be selected to work alongside the Randy Meyer Racing team at the 2021 NHRA U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis.

The annual Respect is Learned© In The Pits contest gives students the unique opportunity to gain real-world experience at a national drag racing event. Winners work hands-on in the pits on Randy Meyer Racing’s Top Alcohol dragsters, performing maintenance on the clutch, motors, and more during the entire weekend event.

Excitement grows for this year’s contest after two consecutive wins at the NHRA U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis. In both 2019 and 2020, Randy Meyer Racing clinched the victory and even broke an NHRA world record in 2020. Four contest winners – Beau Fleming, John Lipscomb, Michael Stupakewicz, and Connor Sims – were able to experience the entire ride and hold the coveted Wally.

Thanks to the support of MotoRad and Ivy Tech Community College Evansville and additional assistance from EXTEND GROUP and Romain Cross Pointe Auto Park, this contest could reach more people and provide two more students with this spectacular once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Stay tuned for more exciting news. Technician.Academy and Randy Meyer Racing will be reviewing the video submissions in the coming weeks and announce the winners on August 12.
