Technician.Academy, an EXTEND PERFORMANCE program, launches a new podcast series focused on educating the technician of today and tomorrow.
Set to kick off on September 30, the Technician.Academy podcast series will be hosted by ASE Certified Master Technician Richard Young and will feature experts from across the automotive industry including instructors, shop owners, manufacturers and technicians. A new podcast will be featured bi-monthly on their website at Technician.Academy, iTunes, and Google Play.
The Technian.Academy podcast series comes just as consumers are looking for more convenient ways to expand their knowledge. According to survey data from Edison Research, podcast listening grew 23% between 2015 and 2016. Podcast programming also continues to grow to meet this demand, including the number of automotive podcasts.
These podcasts are portable, free and very user friendly, says Young who is the Director of Aftermarket Content and Programs for EXTEND PERFORMANCE. “We are here to help increase the core competencies for the automotive technicians of today and tomorrow. We feel like we can make a real connection through our podcast series,” he says.
The first podcast to air will feature Matt Shanahan, an automotive technology instructor at College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, Illinois. Shanahan currently holds 19 ASE certifications. His industry experience includes repairing equipment, cars, light trucks and medium/heavy-duty vehicles. He has worked for an independent repair facility and a construction company repairing fleet vehicles.
Shanahan’s podcast will focus on industry opportunities, and challenges, in the automotive field. He will also offer insight on what value the trained technician brings to the industry, as well as what technical and business classes can help pave the path to an automotive career.
