Sometimes even the simplest items will cause a drivability problem. Then is this situation where the issue is both intermittent and includes a very short window in the production run. The combination of these factors can cause frustration for the technician, but thankfully this tip will help to reduce the frustration level.

“Some 2009-2010 Mazda CX-9 vehicles may experience an engine stall. This applies to vehicles produced from May 1, 2009, to July 31, 2009. The engine will restart and no DTC may be stored. This may be caused by an open circuit in the injector wiring harness and/or a short circuit to the CKP (crankshaft position sensor) wire shielding near connector 0140-16.

Start the engine. Wiggle or gently tug on the injector wiring harness at the CKP connector 0140-16. If the engine stalls, replace the injector wiring harness, P/N TF01-67-080A.

If the engine did not stall, turn the engine off…”
